According to the Gainesville Sun, Isaiah Lawrence Johnson weighed in at 14 pounds, 7.6 ounces when he was born at UF Health Shands Hospital on December 20. The giant bundle of joy was approximately 22.5 inches long. Isaiahbeat out the 14-pound Utah newborn Joel Brandon, Jr. for the title of the U.S.’s Biggest Baby of 2013.Doctors delivered Isaiah via Cesarean section (thank goodness for that) seven days before his due date. Mom Nicia McNelley told the Sun, “It seems like it took them forever to get him out.” UF Health Shands staff say Isaiah’s one of the biggest babies ever born at the hospital, if not the largest.
Ms. McNelley said that with two other children at home, this is “probably” her last baby (we bet, girlfriend!). Mother and child are both doing well and were expected to be home in time for Christmas.
