Tyrese Gibson's reaction to his close friend and Fast and Furious co-star Paul Walker's death last year was extremely heartfelt and touching. However, Tyrese is currently embroiled in a difficult custody battle with his ex-wife, and it appears that Paul's name is being mentioned in court documents.
Tyrese and ex-wife Norma Gibson have a six-year-old daughter, and the two are currently fighting for custody of her. According to TMZ, Norma recently filed court documents claiming that Tyrese is a negligent father who should have spent more time in L.A. with their daughter following Paul's death.
Norma claims that Tyrese had time to be with his daughter after Paul's death because the filming of Fast and Furious 7 was delayed. However, Norma claims that Tyrese instead went "gallivanting throughout Dubai ... staying in expensive hotels ... partying on yachts, sky-diving with other movie stars, driving expensive cars, and making special appearances in night clubs," according to court paperwork.
However, Tyrese is outraged by the fact that Norma would bring up Paul. Tyrese says he was only in Dubai for business, as he needed the money in order to help make his steep child-support payments.
Later this month, the battle will continue, with a court-appointed child evaluator helping decide who deserves custody. We wish the family all the best in this difficult time.
